The second day of Doubles Pool matches, with the qualifiers in the Women’s and Mixed events decided …

Day Two in Brief

WD : Kiwis escape early exit as top 7 seeds advance

Day Two kicked off with top seeds King & Landers-Murphy needing to beat Aussies Nunn & Cardwell to avoid an early exit. They duly did so, and when Malaysians Lee & Sivasangari beat the Aussies too it was those pairs who advanced to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile in Pool B second seeds Duncalf and Waters beat fellow-Englishwomen Massaro & Perry with both pairs going through, while defending champs Chinappa & Karthik doubled up in Pool C and Aussies Grinham and Urquhart did the same in Pool D.

The upset result means that King & Landers-Murphy meet Duncalf & Waters in the quarters in a repeat of their World Doubles Final of last year !!!

MD: Top seeds book their playoff spots

The top eight seeds – who all won yesterday – played the second-ranked pairs today, and there was just one upset as India’s Malhotra & Tandon beat Welsh 6th seeds Makin and Creed.

The remaining matches to finalise the pool positions are Thursday morning, with the Last 16 matches Thursday evening.

XD: All sixteen seeds through

No upsets to report here as the 16 seeded pairs all won through with the top eight seeds all winning their Pools to avoid each other in the last 16 knockout.
